POSH Act
The POSH Act, also known as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, is an Indian legislation aimed at preventing and addressing instances of sexual harassment in the workplace.
The Act was enacted to create a legal framework that ensures the safety and dignity of women employees at their workplaces. It mandates the establishment of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) or Local Complaints Committees (LCCs) in organizations to receive and address complaints of sexual harassment.
The POSH Act outlines the definition of sexual harassment, the duties of employers, the complaint mechanism, the process for conducting inquiries, and the penalties for non-compliance. Its objective is to promote gender equality and create a safe and conducive work environment for women.
